A recent inspection after some heavy rain has shown that we can’t delay the refurbishment of the buildings any longer.
Some areas of the roofing in the dormitories are starting to leak during heavy rain. The ceilings have separated from the support joists and are sagging with the light fittings becoming loose. We have a quotation in from the original architects to replace some of the roofing, paint all the walls and repair the fly netting / door fittings and other areas.
The cost of this will be taken from our operational funds leaving us with much reduced reserves. Alternatively doing nothing now will only make the repair work greater in the coming months. Heavy rain season will be upon us soon so the quicker we start the better it will be.
