James Berry
Was born in Morogoro, Tanzania and lived in various cities before independence, was educated at Larchfield School (Helensburgh) and Fettes College (Edinburgh), Bristol (Ll.B) and Exeter (Ll.M) Universities before becoming a practising Barrister. He has practised law in the UK, Bahrain, Qatar and the UAE, where he is Managing Partner of James Berry & Associates. His set of chambers in London is 36 Group (formerly 36 Bedford Row).
He is deeply committed to transforming the lives of parentless, homeless and marginalised children in Tanzania whose families have been dislocated and impoverished by HIV AIDs, so that their childhood can be as near normal as possible, happy and healthy. He is convinced that Larchfield can additionally provide a great education and that these kids, although they come from the most deprived levels of society, can play a useful and leading part in society as adults.
